In 1909 Alexander Cowie used his most rare and special aged stock to create his own private release - a whisky he called Cowie's Blue Seal, a symbol representing the utmost quality. Today, we've resurrected the symbol of the Blue Seal to mark our 20 year old release. This rich and beautiful single malt whisky is made from the barrels deemed to be of exceptional quality from the Mortlach reserves. A combination of Refill Casks with ex-Sherry casks allows the rich, robust spirit of the beast of Dufftown to come through, while growing in complexity and mellowing over 20 years to an elegant, balanced combination of pepper and cinnamon spice with smooth, mellow vanilla oak.

One of the oldest and smallest distilleries in Scotland, in 1794 Oban rose, bringing an electric vibrancy to the quiet surroundings. Small as it may be, its mythical nature has been written in the stars for centuries. Maturation in refill and new American Oak, then double maturation in ex-Sherry & Amontillado seasoned casks, brings a mild nose with maritime salt and sea air.
